C.T.D.C sponsors outreach projects here at home and around the world.

Currently C.T.D.C. is sponsoring 2 Operation Manna Project:

• "Just Me and the Kids" out of Georgetown CRC

In the fall of 2005 the first 12-week session was attended by 6 moms and 9 children.  It involved many volunteers from the Georgetown CRC – 10 leaders plus 20 meal volunteers, financial and craft supply donors, and janitorial and prayer support. They hope to run a spring and fall session in 2006.  CTDC endorsed JMK’s application for $1500, for their 2^nd year of Operation Manna funding for 2006.

• Time Out for Teen Moms (TOTM) from Immanuel CRC of Brampton

This program has grown beyond anyone’s expectations- from 4 to 25 moms in three groups, plus a nursery and Little Lambs program. Two moms and one boyfriend have become Christians.  Other girls have started to attend church and many have shown sustainable change in their lives.  Rachel Hiller is the new program director.  CTDC endorsed TOTM’s application for $5,000, for their second year of Operation Manna funding in 2006.

Many resources such as deacons manuals, books, videos and tapes are also available from DMC.  These resources can be used in the diaconate or for congregational meetings.

The DMC works with deacons with Diaconal Development, Outreach Ministry Development, Social Justice and Advocacy and with Stewardship Education.

The Classis Toronto Diaconal Committee has now become a standing committee of Classis.  The mandate and other information pertaining to the committee is still in transition.  The committee is looking for members.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the CTDC please contact the nominating committee chair, Corrie Bootsma at bootsma@axxent.ca.

The Diaconal Ministry Developer (DMD) is your local link to the resources of Diaconal Ministries Canada (DMC).

For our classis the DMD is:

Carolyn Verstag of Willowdale CRC

The second DMD position is vacant at this time.

They are available to:

• Visit with your deacons to discuss diaconal work and provide training.

• Help develop a vision and establish achievable goals and work a plan for your church.

• Assist in working our specific diaconal problems in your congregation.

• Work with local diaconates, addressing community needs and methods of response.

• Co-ordinate training and provide resource materials for your diaconate.

Christian Reformed World Relief Committee

A CRWRC resource person is available to speak at congregational meetings or to assist your diaconate with promotion of CRWRC programs.
