Membership: The Committee will compose of at least 6 members. A representative from the Regional Team will serve as an additional member of the Committee as a resource person. The members of the Committee will be gifted, visionary persons willing to put in the necessary time to fulfill the mandate of the Committee.
Mandate: The Home Missions Committee works in partnership with and assists the Churches of Classis as they seek to fulfill their missional calling and be the agents of reconciliation for the Kingdom. This would include the following:
a. Assist the Churches to encourage and equip their members to be active in prayer and cultivate a missional mindset and an incarnational presence in their communities.
b. Stimulate networking and partnering between Congregations and ministries in Classis encouraging them to share the gospel with those in the community in ways that are contextualized and culturally relevant.
c. Provide information and sponsor educational sessions that stimulates the imaginations of Churches in Classis to cultivate a missional mindset and initiate specific strategies for a wholistic approach to presenting the gospel of the Kingdom.
d. Encourage Churches to develop specific initiatives to start new ministries, plant new Churches, and to invite the Churches in Classis to partner with the Committee in their efforts.
e. Provide resources and help facilitate established Churches as they go through processes of renewal and discernment especially in the context of the rapidly changing demographics of the GTA.
f. Process and recommend to Classis special ministry funding requests which may be submitted by Congregations.
