Classis Toronto is made up of churches from Georgetown to Scarborough and from Toronto to Cochrane. Classis links these churches together for ministry and accountability. A minister and and elder from each church are delegated to attend each Classis meeting. Classis meetings normally take place the third Thursday of January and May and the first Thursday of October.

Requirements for Hosting a Classis Meeting:
Space Requirements:
Space for sixty delegates and guests to meet around tables (a number of years ago Classis made the decisions to try to have classis meetings around tables as often as possible rather than in pews to encourage discussion and be able to better see and interact with each other). If pews,
A head table where the Chair, Vice-Chair and Stated Clerk sit.
Space should be able to be closed off from the rest of the church for executive session.
A room or two for Synodical delegates, advisory committees and ballot counting committees to meet if necessary.
Equipment Requirements
Three microphones – two for the head table and one for speakers (preferably this third microphone will be cordless so delegates can use it during discussion)
Space to set up a Projection System (Classis has their own projector and computer).
Photocopier – usually all documents will be ready ahead of time; however, sometimes it is necessary to have something photocopied at the last minute. The church will be reimbursed for the expenses accrued while photocopying for the Classis Meeting.
Food Requirements
Work with the Ministry Coordinator and Classis Executive to provide:
Coffee and tea with muffins or other goodies for when delegates arrive in the morning as well as two coffee breaks (one in the morning and one in the afternoon)
Lunch for delegates and guests
Supper for delegates and guests, if necessary.
Church will be reimbursed for expenses accrued.
* Lunch, coffee breaks and supper can be held in the same room as the meeting if the hosting church does not have two separate spaces to accommodate the meeting and food.
