Committee Chair
(and Vice-Chair, in Chair’s absence)
Authority/Responsibility:
·
As a member of the committee, the chair acts in a position of
trust for the CRC church community and is responsible for the
effective governance of the organization
·
The chair is responsible and accountable to the CRC Classis
Toronto through the Classis Interim Committee.
Qualifications:
·
The chair must have completed two years of committee membership
and have an understanding of board procedures. The vice-chair
must have completed one year of committee membership and have an
understanding of board procedures.
Term:
·
The chair/vice-chair serves for a three year term with the
possibility of another term.
Requirements:
·
commit to the work of the committee
·
provide knowledge and skills in one or more areas of governance:
finance, programs, and/or personnel
·
attend regularly scheduled meetings
·
prepare the meeting agenda
·
help establish long and short term goals, objectives, and
priorities
·
chair the meetings
·
report to the Classis on status of planned events
·
enhance relationships with other church/community groups
·
enhance relationships with other church/community groups
Major Duties:
·
establish long and short term goals, objectives, and priorities
in meeting the needs of the church community
·
report to and address the Classis meeting on the status of
program initiatives
·
provide leadership and direction to the committee
·
arrange for the vice-chair to chair meetings in the absence of
the chair
·
prepare the meeting agenda
·
provide guidance and leadership
·
ensure committee members receive agenda and minutes in a timely
manner
·
work closely with the Race Relations Coordinator and the
Ministry Coordinator
Review/Approval Date
·
Every three years review the Chair’s job description and
recommend changes to the proper authorities. |
